Sunset Solidarity – Fundraising Hike

Join Trail Criú for Sunset Solidarity, a special community fundraising hike that brings people together on the trails to stand in solidarity with one another. As the day fades and the evening light settles over the landscape, we’ll hike side by side, taking time to connect, reflect, and share the experience of the outdoors as a community.

This event is about more than just a walk in the hills. Sunset Solidarity represents the spirit that sits at the heart of Trail Criú — creating welcoming spaces where people from different backgrounds can come together, support each other, and build community through shared outdoor experiences. Whether you are a regular member of Trail Criú or joining us for the first time, you are warmly invited to take part.

During the hike, participants will enjoy a guided group walk at a relaxed and inclusive pace, allowing everyone to take in the scenery and the atmosphere of the evening. It is an opportunity to meet new people, spend time outdoors, and contribute to a meaningful cause.

Where your support goes

All funds raised through Sunset Solidarity will directly support the ongoing work of Trail Criú and help us continue to grow our community programmes. This includes:

• Organising inclusive outdoor events and activities that bring people together through hiking, trail running, and community challenges.

• Supporting participation for people who may face barriers to outdoor activities, including those living in Direct Provision and people newly arrived to Ireland.

• Providing equipment, training, and resources that allow more people to safely access the outdoors.

• Running community programmes, workshops, and volunteer opportunities that help build confidence, connection, and wellbeing through nature.

• Developing future events and initiatives that expand Trail Criú’s mission of community, solidarity, and belonging.

By taking part in this hike, you are not only enjoying an evening on the trails — you are helping ensure that more people can experience the sense of belonging and empowerment that outdoor community can bring.

Event Details & Important Information

Timeframe: This is a guided sunset hike. Exact meeting place and duration will be confirmed via email prior to the event. Please arrive 10–15 minutes early for check-in and briefing.

Start Point: The hike will begin at a designated trailhead (full location details and directions will be shared with participants in pre-event email).

Hike Leader(s): This event will be led by experienced and qualified hike leaders from the Trail Criú team.

Required Kit:
Participants must come prepared with appropriate hiking gear, including:

• Sturdy hiking boots/shoes

• Weather-appropriate clothing (waterproof layers essential)

• Head torch (required for descent after sunset)

• Water and snacks

• Fully charged phone

Trail conditions and weather can change quickly, so being properly equipped is essential for your safety and comfort.

Cancellation Policy:
In the interest of participant safety, the event may be postponed or cancelled due to adverse weather or unsafe conditions. In such cases, participants will be offered a rescheduled date or a full refund. Participant cancellations are not refundable.

By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge that hiking in outdoor and mountainous environments carries inherent risks, including but not limited to uneven terrain, weather changes, and reduced visibility. You confirm that you are physically capable of participating in this activity and agree to follow all instructions provided by the event leaders. Trail Criú and associated partners accept no liability for personal injury, loss, or damage except where required by law.
